LASU SET TO COMMENCE INDIGENESHIP VERIFICATION EXERCISE FOR 2026/2027 ASPIRANTS

The Lagos State University (LASU) has announced the date for the commencement of its Indigeneship Verification Exercise (IIVC) for candidates of Lagos State origin seeking admission into the institution for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The exercise, according to the university, is open to candidates who selected LASU as their first choice in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and scored a minimum of 195.

Registration is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 27, 2026, and will close on Friday, May 22, 2026. Interested candidates are required to complete their registration and payment through the university’s official portal .

The university, however, emphasised that participation in the verification exercise does not guarantee admission, but is a compulsory requirement for candidates of Lagos State origin to be considered. The screening exercise will be conducted in four phases:

Phase 1 – April 27 – April 30, 2026

Phase 2 – May 4 – May 7, 2026

Phase 3 – May 11 – May 14, 2026

Phase 4 – May 18 – May 22, 2026.

Candidates are expected to attend their screening at designated centres across Lagos State, including Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, and Epe.

LASU further stated that only candidates of Lagos State origin are eligible for the exercise. Applicants from previous sessions (2024/2025 and 2025/2026) who are yet to secure admission are advised to revalidate their indigeneship clearance certificates online.

In addition, all Direct Entry candidates of Lagos State origin are required to participate in the exercise before they can be considered for admission.The university also warned candidates to avoid making payments through unofficial channels, stressing that it will not be responsible for any loss arising from transactions with unauthorized individuals.
