The managements of Lagos State University (LASU) and the Federal University of Science and Technology, Epe (FUSTECH) have debunked a widely circulated claim that LASU’s Epe campus has been converted into FUSTECH.
In a joint press release issued by both institutions, authorities clarified that the Epe campus remains a fully operational arm of LASU. The campus continues to host key academic units, including the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, the School of Agriculture, as well as pre-degree and sandwich programmes, among other research centres.
The statement explained that FUSTECH, a newly established university, is only making temporary use of some facilities within the LASU Epe campus to support its take-off phase. According to both institutions, this arrangement is based on mutual collaboration, and in no way affects the identity or operations of either university.
“Each institution retains its distinct governance structure and academic activities,” the statement emphasized, maintaining that the sharing of infrastructure is strictly interim, pending FUSTECH’s eventual relocation to its permanent site.
The universities therefore urged members of the public, prospective students, and parents to “disregard” the misleading information and rely only on official communications for accurate updates.
Both LASU and FUSTECH reaffirmed their commitment to academic excellence and assured stakeholders of continued transparency in their operations.
The statement was jointly signed by the Registrar of LASU, Emmanuel A. Fanu, and the Registrar of FUSTECH, Kabiru Olawale Okugbesan.
