LASU HOLDS PRESS CONFERENCE TO UNVEIL JIHAD WEEK 1447AH/2025 THEME AND ACTIVITIES

Ojo, Lagos – July 10, 2025:
The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Lagos State University Branch (MSSN LASU), held its official press conference on Thursday, 10th July 2025, to unveil the theme, objectives, and scheduled activities for this year’s Jihad Week, tagged “The Pulse.”

The event commenced with a solemn recitation from the Holy Qur’an by Brother Sodiq Adewunmi, the Chief Editor of MSSN LASU. This was followed by a powerful keynote address delivered by the Ameer (President) of MSSN LASU, Brother Aminu Al-Amin Gbolahan, who welcomed all attendees and highlighted the significance of the Jihad Week in reviving spiritual consciousness among Muslim students.

“This gathering is not just a formality; it is a declaration of intent, a call to consciousness, and a moment of reflection on what truly matters—our faith, identity, and responsibilities,” the Ameer stated during his address.

He emphasized the urgency of reconnecting the Muslim youth to their spiritual roots, particularly in a time where distractions and moral confusion are rampant. According to him, the theme “The Pulse” was carefully chosen to symbolize the state of spiritual awareness within the Ummah, especially among students.

The Ameer described this year’s Jihad Week as a sacred pause amidst academic activities, dedicated to spiritual awakening, intellectual engagement, social responsibility, and community bonding. Activities lined up for the event include:

Special Jumu’ah and Public Lecture

Formal Opening Ceremony

Arabic Speaking Day

Faculty Symposia

Qur’an Competition

Gathering of Pious Spouses

Sisters’ Seminar

Football Competition

Grand Closing Ceremony

He further stressed that MSSN is not merely a student organization, but a spiritual movement that has impacted generations since its founding in 1954. Special appreciation was given to the University Management led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, the Dean of Students’ Affairs, and various faculty leaders for their continued support.

Also acknowledged were the MSSN alumni, press representatives, guest scholars, and the Jihad Week Planning Committee, whose combined efforts made the event possible.

“Let this Jihad Week be a turning point—for you, for me, for all of us. Let us reconnect to the Pulse,” the Ameer concluded.

The press conference marked the official launch of Jihad Week 1447AH/2025, which will run from Thursday, July 10th to Monday, July 21st, and is expected to draw wide participation from students, scholars, and members of the public.
