LASUSU-SPC SUSPENDS LEGAL DIRECTOR FOR DISHONESTY AND MISUSE OF OFFICE

The Legal Director, Comrade Toheeb Alimi, was suspended indefinitely from office by the Speaker of the Students’ Parliamentary Council (SPC) during an emergency meeting on Friday, 14th February 2025, at the Hallowed Chambers, Students’ Arcade.

The 35th LASUSU Legal Director was suspended indefinitely due to dishonesty, misrepresentation, and misuse of office.

This issue originated from an induction letter sent through the office of the Legal Director on behalf of the recently suspended Vice President, Comrade Ramom Rihanat.

The House disapproved of this action, as it is constitutionally wrong to use the office of the Legal Director to represent a non-member of the Union instead of using their name.

The decision follows a motion and seconded by the SPC members, followed by a referendum that confirms the resolution.

Additionally, he was declared dishonest in his defense for failing to submit his suit during the last budget meeting on the 7th of February 2025, despite claiming to have done so.

In response, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adedeji Adeniji, appointed Hon. K.O. Jinadu, a 400 level member of the Parliament as the Acting Legal Director of the Union.
