LASUSU-SPC HOLDS IT’S FIRST BUSINESS MEETING

LASUSU-SPC First Sitting under the leadership of the newly inaugurated speaker, Rt. Hon. Adedeji Adeniyi.

The Lagos State University Students’ Union held her first business sitting on Friday 10th of January 2024, at the hallowed chamber, student arcade, under the leadership of the newly inaugurated 35th Speaker, Rt Hon. Adedeji Adeniyi.

The sitting was focused on the appointment of standing committees, in-house committees, the appointment of the SJC and other businesses of the day. The sitting began with the swearing-in of Honourable members who were not sworn in at the inauguration ceremony.

The Honourable members of the House made nominations for committees, and the Speaker proceeded to appoint functionaries for each committee. A student of the Faculty of Law, Comrade Makanjuola Haddy Adekunle, was appointed as the 35th substantive president of the LASUSU Court of Appeals, Hon. Justice Adeniji Abideen Olamilekan, the head of LASUSU High Court, Comrade Alabi Abdul Salam as the 35th substantive Chief Registrar of LASUSU High Court and Honourable Olushola was appointed as the Chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee and many other posts newly occupied by other comrades.

In light of that, the Speaker mentioned an initiative he planned to execute alongside the President. This is aimed at addressing the lack of identification challenges faced by students outside the campus. They intend to provide a unique, uniform identity card for the student populace, which has been stalled due to the disagreement among faculty presidents.

Amidst the disagreement, the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Fatai Abatan instructed all faculty presidents to place the payment of faculty dues and identity cards on hold until further notice.
