LASUSU GENERAL SECRETARY HOSTS FIRST-EVER SECRETARIAT OPEN DAY

The Lagos State University Students’ Union, from the office of the General Secretary, Comr. Ayotunde held the first ever LASUSU Secretariat Open Day and Bulletin launch on Thursday, November 20th, 2025, at the Students’ Union Hallowed Chamber, Arcade.

The grand event featured several side perks which contributed to its success, and was graced by LASUSU executives and the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Associate Professor Dr Abiodun Fatai-Abatan.

Delivering the keynote address of the day, the Lagos State University Acting Dean of Students’ Affairs, Associate Professor Dr. Abiodun Fatai-Abatan, charged the students’ union on the importance of leadership, emphasizing that they are the set of individuals who would drive change in the society in the future. He further affirmed his commitment to supporting students’ development programs across LASU.

Following his speech, the Dean was praised for his increased focus on students’ development. According to the students’ union, there has been an obvious “momentum and notable achievement by the students’ affairs division since the assumption of the Dean,” noting that his commitment to students matters and clear trajectories has given the students a renewed belief, leveraging their academic performance and welfare.

The students’ Union further praised the efforts of the Vice Chancellor; Prof Olatunji-Bello, emphasizing her commitment towards students’ welfare which has improved students’ experience on campus. Describing her “superlative administration,” the students praised her for contributing significantly to LASU’s renowned academic excellence and students’ development.

The LASUSU Secretariat Open Day and Bulletin launch was rounded up with the awards sections, where the Dean of Students’ Affairs and several key individuals were honoured for their contributions to students development in LASU.
