In an impressive milestone, LASU and LASU Laws has once again made the news, as the Best Graduating Student in the Faculty of Law for the 2024/2025 Academic Session, Toheeb Omotayo Alimi, clinched the prestigious 2025 Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN) Scholarship Award, valued at ₦1,000,000.
The BOSAN Scholarship, hosted by the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, is a national initiative designed to strengthen legal education and professional practice in Nigeria. The scheme is aimed at rewarding outstanding law students in universities and at the Nigerian Law School, who have displayed excellence in academics, discipline, character, and professional integrity.
The Emeritus Students’ Union Legal Director, Alimi, once again showed his academic prowess by wading off stiff competition and emerging as one of the successful awardees for the 2025 scholarship cycle, placing him among a select group of Nigeria’s most promising emerging legal talents.
According to the official award notification, the scholarship will be disbursed in two tranches: ₦500,000 during his final year at the university and ₦500,000 during his attendance at the Nigerian Law School.
Beyond its financial value, the BOSAN Scholarship carries considerable professional prestige, as beneficiaries are formally recognised as BOSAN Scholars, a distinction that holds significant honour within academic institutions, the Nigerian Law School, and the broader legal profession.
The formal presentation of the award is scheduled to hold at the 50th Anniversary Dinner of the Conferment of the Rank of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, slated for Saturday, 7th February 2026, at Harbour Point, 4 Wilmot Point Road, off Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos State.
BOSAN has, however, maintained strict standards of accountability for the scheme, noting that any beneficiary who falls below the required benchmarks of academic performance, conduct, or character risks immediate withdrawal of the scholarship.
Reacting to the unprecedented milestone, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, congratulated Alimi on the well-deserved honour, describing it as a proud moment for the university. She commended his dedication and discipline, and wished him greater success as he advances in his legal career.
With this feat, Toheeb Omotayo Alimi not only earns a prestigious national recognition but also takes a significant step toward a promising future in Nigeria’s legal landscape.
