COSA-LASU SRC REINSTATES P.R.O FOLLOWING INDEFINITE SUSPENSION

The Communication Students’ Representative Council (CSRC) at Lagos State University, has officially reinstated Comr. Okorie Stephanie to her role as Public Relations Officer, following a disciplinary review and formal apology. The reinstatement, announced on Wednesday November 26, 2025, marks the conclusion of a brief but highly publicized suspension that stirred reactions across the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies.

LASU Conscience recalls that the P.R.O, Comr. Stephanie was indefinitely suspended by the Communication Students’ Representative Council on Monday, November 17, 2025. The CRSC attributed the decision to “gross insubordination and contempt of the house,” emphasizing that the PRO publicly mocked the decision of the CRSC, made on 14th November, 2025, and appointed Comr. Irekponor Osagie, the Publicity Secretary, to assume the roles and responsibilities of the Acting Public Relations Officer for the duration of this suspension.

Following a week into the decision of the indefinite suspension, Comr. Stephanie tendered a formal apology to the CSRC on Monday, November 24. She admitted her errors, stating that, “I sincerely regret that my post caused discomfort and appeared to trivialise a serious decision made by the Council.” She further affirmed her commitment to the CSRC’s leadership and processes, “I remain committed to working closely with the CSRC to uphold the image and reputation of the Communication Students’ Association.”

Reacting to the apology, the CSRC on Wednesday, November 26, rescinded the earlier decision of the suspension of the PRO, and formally reinstated her back into her position. In the formal broadcast, the CRSC declared that the disciplinary measure had served its purpose of reinforcing parliamentary integrity.

The Council further commended Comr. Irekphonor Osagie for his service as Acting PRO during the period of the suspension, and directed Comr. Stephanie to resume her duties with renewed commitment to Council resolutions.

This reinstatement closes the chapter on a disciplinary episode that sparked conversations about responsibility, representation, and the weight of public communication within student governance.
